John Leslie Hug began as a session guitar player in Los Angeles, CA in 1976. He first worked for producers Ken Mansfield (Waylon Jennings, Jesse Coulter, Robb Strandlund) and Jim Ed Norman (Jennifer Warnes, Michael Martin Murphy, Anne Murray and later President of Warner Bros. Records Nashville for 23 years).
By the end of the 2nd year as session player, Hug was asked to produce his first LP for Artist (Clive Davis). The artist was Commander Cody, one of the original San Francisco artists from the psycadelic era.
After that Hug produced Marty Balin's (Jefferson Airplane) biggest hit "Hearts" and "Girls" a duet with Tom Petty and Dwight Twilley.
Hug produced music for the Ghostbusters soundtrack, played on the Urban Cowboy soundtrack and produced the theme for the first Police Academy film with Jack Mac and the Heart Attack.
